Once I take a shower, I immediately feel freshened, relieved and less stressed.

Now some of you may be athletics people, a kick-boxer, football player or a basketball player, which means that you understand what I’m trying to say. However, sometimes you just can’t seem to twist the shower head the way you want it, or it doesn’t have the features you want.

The 8 Best Shower Heads

8. WYJP 12 Inch Shower Head

Our Ratings:

We are going to start our best shower heads list with a great rain-like shower head. Previously, we mentioned some showerheads with great capabilities, as well as great performance. Now, when it comes to WYJP large square rain shower head, this is probably one of the lightest high-quality units on the market right now.

Unlike kids, adults know how fun it is to stand in the rain. The WYJP will give you exactly that feeling, with a 12-inch showerhead, it will almost feel like you’re standing in a heavy rainfall that results in a refreshing mood, relaxation to the entire body.

In terms of the design, the WYJP Large Square Rain Showerhead boasts a high-quality stainless steel 304 construction that covers several types and grades of steel to give your showerhead corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance capabilities.

When it comes to its mounting, this showerhead has an easy-to-install process which only needs unscrewing the old showerhead and replace it with this new one. It has a thickness of 2mm, a design which makes it possible to mount on walls and ceilings.

It has a flow rate of 2.5 GPM, which will be able to save you almost 30% of water usage, which also counts as an eco-friendly unit.

Moving on, this unit has a square plate that features a gloss finish with 144 equally spaced silicon nozzles. In addition, these nozzles are high-pressured and will give you a spa-like shower feeling. It also has an included swivel ball connector that enables you to adjust and direct the showerhead to any angle you want it to.

Furthermore, this showerhead also delivers various settings in order to enhance the efficiency of water supply for a relaxed bathing experience.

There is also an adapter included which tends to help you attach it to the existing plumbing in your bathroom, while it uses a G1/2 connector that is compatible with most common shower arms.

Regarding the silicon nozzles that we mentioned earlier, they are some of the best in the industry today, while they will also give your showerhead the ability to perform remarkably on both high and low temperatures, resist chloramine, and have good sealing.

Overall, there is a lot more to say about this showerhead, or any other showerhead of this category because they are peoples favorite household essential today, but with all of these being told, we hope it helped you clear the confusion, and get an idea of a rain showerheads capabilities.

7. Hydroluxe 1433

Our Ratings:

If you’re looking for a showerhead that you can move it and direct it to a specific position more easily, then the Hydroluxe 1433 Handheld could be the solution.

In terms of the design, the Hydroluxe 1433 boasts a unique design, especially with its 5 foot super flexible stainless-steel hose. It has an elegant, modern look which can accommodate any bathroom fixture.

To continue, Hydroluxe pampering comes with 24-setting, which also features a 2-in-1 shower combo. In addition, the overhead showerhead is an ultra-luxury 3-way, handheld showerhead accompanied by a hose.

Each shower features Oversize 4 Inch Chrome Face with 3-zone Click Lever Dial and Rub-clean Jets.

There are 5 settings which are worth mentioning such as the power rain, water-saving economy rain, massage, stay-warm mist, and pause. With these, the manufacturer has made sure that any person in any mood can enjoy his/her shower to the maximum.

When it comes to its mounting, this showerhead has a tool-free installation. You can connect it in a matter of minutes to any standard overhead shower arm, with no tools required.

However, there is one thing that many customers noticed. When we were doing research on this unit, we noticed some people saying that the pause button wasn’t working properly. When used, this button will pause the flow of water, but not completely to shut off the water. Hence, there will still be a drip, but there’s an explanation. From my perspective, this is something done with full consciousness by the manufacturer, which is by design to avoid pressure build-up and the potential of bursting the hose, pretty logical right? Also, people were also asking questions like, is switching the use of showerheads easy enough to do it during your shower?

Of course, you will find a knob on the main showerhead that you turn to direct the water to the main, handheld or both. This can be changed while you are showering, so you don’t need to worry about anything.

Moreover, handheld showerheads are a common favorite essential by household worldwide. If you want to know more about these types of showerheads, make sure you read our full article on the best handheld shower heads, where you will also see some of the best products on the market for this year.

6. High Sierra Low Flow Showerhead

Our Ratings:

The High-Sierra 1.5GPM Showerhead is the most eco-friendly option you can find today. It is also a top-pick favorite unit among online buyers, which is not by random, but we will get into more details in a bit.

This particular model is made in the USA, where it has also gained its reputation mostly.

In terms of the design, this unit is known for its built quality, featuring a uniquely designed spray cone, it will definitely look like it’s using much more water than it actually is.

Starting from head to fittings, all of the materials used for its construction are entirely metal made in the USA.  In addition, getting to the spray restrictor, which you can find on the face of the head, this part is made from a high-grade plastic, which lasts much longer than other plastic or composite components.

Having it first hand, you would immediately notice the sturdiness, which tells a lot about its build quality, emphasizing both the finish and the smooth joint action on the fixture.

And yes, the High Sierra 1.5GPM is WaterSense certified, which also qualifies for the LEED standard in green building.

We mentioned that this showerhead is eco-friendly, which paraphrases to its 1.5GPM flow rate. To be more specific, the 1.5GPM flow rate will save 40% of the water used by traditional 2.5GPM models, which is great in my opinion.

Furthermore, High Sierra has also implemented a special Splash Protector, which focuses the spray into a tight zone, which means that instead of the numerous narrow spray nozzles, there’s one central jet.

As a result, this will reduce overspray and will provide greater coverage within the cone. There are many positive things that follow, such as the bathroom floor won’t be as wet, plus, the single-channel will prevent clogging and blockages.

There’s one thing I didn’t like about the High Sierra 1.5GPM. This particular model doesn’t have a turn-off valve, which can come to use some situations.

However, High Sierra also has a good reputation for their customer support, while they also reply to comments from buyers on different household shopping websites. Definitely one of the best shower heads out there.

Moreover, you can find more low-flow showerheads in the full low-flow showerhead buying guide, where you will also see different other units of this category.

5. Ana Bath SS5450CBN

Our Ratings:

Ana Bath SS5450CBN is a reliable showerhead which stands among internets favorite handheld showerheads.  It’s also one of the most affordable showerheads to have the feature of two heads.

In addition, both of the showerheads deliver 5 different functions from which you can choose your preferred setting, whether you’d like a rain-feel, more pressure via a massage spray, bubbling, etc, etc..

What I like most about this unit is how the pressure builds up. To be more specific, it runs on 80PSI, which may not seem much but there is plenty of power.

The Ana Bath also features an Anti-Clogging system which is great, since clogging can be a big problem with showerheads. Basically, anything that carries water can become clogged, with limescale and other minerals that form within and cause individual nozzles to stop working.

When it comes to Ana Bath, it is far less likely to clog because of its design, but if it happens, you just have to wet the nozzles and disrupt them by applying some pressure, to ensure the buildups break and allow the water to come flow.

Ana bath is also eco-friendly, despite the fact that it is a dual showerhead. It gives a precise measurement of 2.31GPM, which is below the standardized GPM in most countries. However, the power that this unit builds up with this level of water flow is something you should appreciate.

Now, as the name states, this showerhead is also handheld, which means you can move it around and direct it to where you specifically want more easily. It has a five-foot hose which is perfect for almost everyone. Not exaggerating, but hoses can be very helpful for getting to harder to reach parts, and also super helpful for cleaning out the bathtub.

It has a simple installation process that is a tool-free process. It just needs to be plugged to a 1/2 inch connector with easy, and you can simply unscrew and detach the old showerhead before installing your new. You will also find the instructions in the manual that comes along, so in case you get confused, just search for the problem because everything is explained as it should.

Moreover, this unit also comes in two different finishes from which you can choose from, chrome and a brushed nickel design, which means that it can match different bathroom styles and fixtures.

4. Speakman S-2252

Our Ratings:

Speakman is a well-known company which has been making many modern innovations and patents in the showerhead product world for many years now since it’s also founded in 1869.

In terms of the design, Speakman S-2252 comes in a variety of styles from which you can choose from, which complements existing bathroom appliances and is also an efficient showerhead that conserves water at the industry-standard 2.5GPM.

Despite its powerful performance, this particular model also maintains a steady stream of high-volume water spray despite low water pressure in a house.

What I like most about this product is that incorporates the brand’s patented Anystream Technology, which means that it provides a load of 48 different spray patterns. In addition, there are easy-to-adjust patterns that you can do with only a flick of the lever.

As we said, the spray maintains a high-volume and powerful performance regardless of a home’s water pressure. This is some good news for customers who have a weak spray from old showerheads.

Furthermore, this unit by Speakman is constructed with durability and quality in mind, featuring a hard metal built to last long. Longevity is one of the main selling points of the Speakman brand.

However, do not mistake this unit for a lightweight one. The Speakman S-2252 is heavier than the other showerheads you’ve encountered, which must be kept in mind during the installation process, especially if you have never done it before and you’re taking instructions from the model’s manual.

Also, for your information, if you’re households water contains a higher mineral content, you might have to clean the Speakman manually, as the self-cleaning function will not work properly under these conditions.

Nonetheless, instructions will be included with the Speakman showerhead, which will guide the user to soak the unit in a vinegar and water mixture if this problem occurs.

Just to make sure we mention everything, some of Speakman’s most important features are Anystream 360 Degree Technology, Patented Plunger System, 48 Unique Spray Settings, Self-Cleaning Nozzles, the 2.5GPM flow-rate, and the Signature Silhouette.

Moreover, high-pressure showerheads deliver an exceptional experience for every user, and if you want to know more about these types of showerheads, we suggest you read our full article about the best high pressure shower heads.

3. Delta Chrome 75152

Our Ratings:

One of the simplest upgrades you can make to your shower is to replace your showerhead. This is where Delta comes in. Delta features a wide variety of styles and innovations, all of which can be installed in less than 20 minutes and with no special tools required, pretty cool huh?

In terms of the design, this particular model boasts a design that features both, user-friendly experience, and insurance for durability for the years to come.

It is specially designed with patented engineering technology, which also has 4 large spray holes to ensure that no clogging will occur saving you the hassle of cleaning up.

One of the main features that I like about this showerhead is that it has an in-built-volume-control. To be more specific, this is a level which will allow for the convenient adjustment of water settings to suit with your varying showering routine, like water-saving mode or enjoy a drenching mode.

The Delta Faucet 75152 has a huge advantage over the other competitors because it also uses H20Kinetic Technology. H20Kinetic Technology provides dual showering experience within the same showerhead and allows the production of larger water droplets that deliver longer retention of heat, giving a massaging effect and a denser spray pattern to provide a drenching effect.

What this means is that each of these enhancements will allow you to enjoy several flow volumes from a standard 2.5GPM showerhead, but in fact, it will be using 36% lesser actual water volume and lesser energy.

The result is that it provides more coverage, warmth and more intensity for a truly drenching shower experience. You can basically enjoy the feeling of more water without even using more water.

Moreover, the Delta Faucet 75152 water amplifying adjustable showerhead is also a WaterSense certified product, which is obviously on more reason for you to consider buying this essential.

Overall, this is one of the best dual shower heads you could find, and as a customer put it, the Delta showerhead looks substantial and does not look cheap despite its affordability.

2. Moen S6320

Our Ratings:

The Meon S6320 is a premium high-quality showerhead which will elevate your shower experience to a whole new level. At 8-inches in diameter, this showerhead will deliver exceptional coverage and luxurious user experience, also featuring 100 nozzles with a water flow of up to 2.5 GPM(gallons per minute).

When using this showerhead, you’ll be able to choose between two shower modes, a rainfall experience with all the 100 nozzles or a more concentrated high-pressure flow featuring 30 central nozzles.

In addition, this particular model also features Immersion technology, which is a self-pressurizing system that continuously intensifies the circular flow of water to deliver a more enjoyable shower experience, every single time.

In terms of the design, this showerhead comes in three different styles, such as Chrome, Brushed Nickel, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze. Therefore, you will have no problem to find the perfect match that suits your bathroom the most, whether it’s colorful, new, or old. Also, when it comes to its durability, al three finishes will resist corrosion to ensure long-lasting performance and are backed with Moen’s Limited Lifetime Warranty against leaks, drips, and defects.

However, there’s one thing I don’t really like about rain showers, they are a bit bigger than expected in size. In this case, those who have a small shower will probably have issues fitting the Moen S6320 in, due to its 8-inch diameter and large coverage.

I’m pointing out this because I was so persistent on getting a rain shower, until a plumber I knew told me that it wouldn’t fit, and even if it did, when the showerhead would be in rain mode, the water would spread all across the bathroom, since I live in a small apartment and my bathroom is not really that big.

Moreover, seeing it from the aesthetics perspective, it may not suit these smaller areas, but when it comes to performance, you will still get a remarkable experience.

Moreover, regarding its installation, the Moen S6320 is one of the strongest candidates for the best wall-mounted rainfall showerheads on the market.

So, if you already haven’t checked the price, these type of showerheads don’t really come at a cheap price, and if you’ve been looking for something similar, then we suggest you start saving some money because if you ever decide to purchase it, you will never regret your decision.

1.Hansgrohe 27474001

Our Ratings:

One of the best shower heads out there is the Hansgrohe Shower Head. Hansgrohe is a well-known brand which has been producing high-performance products for quite some time now. In this case, the Hansgrohe 27474001 Raindance Downpour AIR Showerhead is a uniquely designed showerhead which packs many interesting features and was built with innovation in mind.

In terms of the design, this unit boasts a sleek design that consists of a high-quality chrome-plated construction for its spray disc, while the showerhead itself was made from a solid brass design. It looks well-made, elegant and it can match with almost any fixture you have in your bathroom.

You can also choose between two finishes for this showerhead, the brushed nickel, and chrome-plated finishes, while both of them look fantastic and fits perfectly with different bathroom styles.

When it comes to its installation, well, its quite easy and it doesn’t require any special plumbing skills.  What you need is a plumbers tape, 2mm Allen key, and an adjustable wrench.

Feature-wise, this particular model has the ability to make it possible to use in a home with low water pressures, while it comes with a single spray mode known as the RainAir.

To be more specific, RainAir mode will deliver you a rain-like relaxation shower and a luxurious coverage to wash away your daily stresses. The strong water pressure will make you feel like you’re standing in a downpour, only that it’s happening in your bathroom.

Moreover, this showerhead has a flow rate of 2.5 GPM, which is the standard GPM for almost any other competitor out there.

Additionally, the use of silicon to make the nozzles makes the cleaning process very easy. What you basically need to do is just use your hand to rub them, and allow the lime and calcium deposits to flake off, which ensures a great and balanced shower to be obtained from all the 180 spray nozzles.

Overall, Hansgrohe is right now one of the most purchased showerheads by households. It’s definitely worth the money, and it has many more features that we couldn’t mention such as the AirPower technology and the Quick Clean technology. However, if you think this one is too expensive, you can check out some other rain shower heads here.

Types of Shower Heads

If you’ve come to the point where you need to choose what type of shower head you should purchase, then this means you have to do some research and read some reviews as we mentioned earlier.

For your information, there are several types of showerheads which will give you satisfaction to your personal desires and tastes, bathroom arrangement and your budget. These showerheads differentiate from the average wall mounted shower head through to rainfall showerheads, or high-tech showerheads that include Bluetooth speakers LED or lights.

One of the best shower heads in the market

Handheld Shower Heads

If you’re tired of going with the flow as usual, and using a standard shower setup, don’t you think its time for you to consider switching to a handheld showerhead to get the most from your shower experience. To get more into the details, these handheld units can attach to your shower wall via a long rubber hose, while they can also be easily removed to direct spray of water right where you want it to go. It’s a perfect essential for the eco-conscious people who want an easy way to save both water and energy without sacrificing the water pressure needed to keep you clean and comfortable.

More on that, you can also install these units similar to how you would install a regular fixed showerhead, without using any extensive demos or refinishing. We all know that it’s important to keep your shower clean and fresh after each use, but of course, most people simply don’t have the time to seek out the proper cleaning supplied after every shower.

Here is where a handheld showerhead comes to use, since it also serves as the perfect tool for rinsing your shower, and since it’s right within reach, you’re more likely to give your shower a quick cleaning before you towel off. There are of course numerous reasons why you should purchase a handheld showerhead, but we will not cover everything.

High-Pressure Shower Heads

Just to be clear, the only reason why your shower head pressure is low isn’t just because you have a bad shower head, it may also be your whole house filtration system, or maybe you live in an area with hard water problems and your pipes are slowly but surely clogging. However, if it’s specifically in the shower, maybe you just need a better showerhead, because the old one may have strict flow regulator or a poor nozzle pattern. In any case, getting a new showerhead to make showering more efficient, enjoyable and satisfying, will not be a bad idea.

The hard part is finding the one you really want, because when it comes to installing it, you won’t need to call a plumber. To be more specific, most of the showerheads these days are equipped with universal fittings and many don’t even require tools to install. Moreover, just as the name states, this is a category of showerheads for people who want high-pressure water when they’re getting a shower.

Rain Shower Heads

Have you ever encountered something really special while being on vacation, hotel, or at a friends house? If there is one satisfying, enjoyable feature in every hotel bathroom, it’s the rain showerhead. It’s so very soothing, you basically emerge a new person. Rain showerheads are much larger in size, and they are essentially Fixed Shower Heads, which range from 6 inches and up that allows you to increase the coverage in your shower. This means that more water will hit your skin, which leaves you to a warmer feeling in the shower, or colder in any case.

This type of showerhead can be mounted from the wall or from the Ceiling. If you mount it on your wall, you can easily install this in minutes like most showerheads. However, there is one thing you need to keep in mind, whether you should go with a Single Function or Multi-Function.

To be more specific, if you plan on mounting your Rainshower from your ceiling, go for a Single Function, because it will likely be hard to change the settings if your showerhead is mounted 3-4 feet above your head. In case you didn’t know, there are new water flow regulations, while manufacturers restrict the output of water to a maximum of 2.5 Gallons per minute, 1.5 Gallons per minute will be enough, which also makes any showerhead an Eco Performance unit.

LED Shower Heads

If you have a beautiful bathroom, congrats, that’s cool, but have you seen a bathroom with an LED showerhead? It just looks creative, colorful and satisfying. As we all know, it can be hard sometimes for parents to convince children to shower more often. However, this showerhead will make showering fun and enjoyable again. It will also become a conversational piece the first time people get to see your bathroom, they will definitely want to know how much did it cost, where you got it and how can they get one too, only because of its unique design.

When it comes to its mounting, most of the LED showerheads can be wall-mounted which means that they boast that common method all of the regular showerheads do. It is also adjustable, and most of them feature an Air Turbo Pressure-Boost technology that gives a massage-alike feeling which will persuade you even more on buying this type of showerhead. However, if you want to know more details about LED showerheads, make sure you read our article on that topic, where you will also see a list of the best products on the market for this year.

Low-Flow Shower Heads

As we move to another category, low-flow showerheads are probably the most efficient ones. It’s something each and every one of us should consider buying because they can significantly reduce your household water consumption without a noticeable difference to your shower experience.

They’re called low-flow showerheads because they have a water consumption rate of 0.5 to 2 gallons per minutes. However, a quality low flow shower head will feel great at both high and low water pressures. Additionally, some of them have flow restrictors that can be reversed or removed to allow more water through on low-pressure lines, while they will also allow you to achieve the right amount of water flow for your water pressure. On the other hand, some of them have restrictors that work automatically, which means they sense the available water pressure and adjust it to deliver how much is necessary, mostly 2.5 gpm. In case you didn’t know, there are two types of low flow showerheads: the regular, stationary type and hand-held models attached to a flexible hose.

As you know, most hand-held showerheads can be mounted onto a wall hanger, swivel, or bar for hands-free showering, which is a really satisfying feeling for those who want to take it to more specific parts of the body. Although these hand-held models of low-flow showerheads will cost you a bit more than a regular one because they include additional tools such as a flexible hose, they are also more versatile and use water more efficiently by directing the flow to where you want it. If you want to know which are the best low-flow showerheads on the market for this year, make sure you check out our full article about them.

Dual Shower Heads

Dual showerheads are a magnificent essential which deliver an extremely convenient and comfortable experience for everyone. They have many advantages over the other types of showerheads like for example, you will be able to shower a lot quicker, and that is when you have a little time left in the morning when you get ready for a busy day.

Just as the name states, these types of showerheads are dual, which means the water will flow independently from each showerhead. Thus, the water-flow will reach a 2.5 GPM from a single showerhead. Other than that, there are several practical ways to use a dual shower head, for instance, it is preferred by couples who love to shower together, or twin kids, or parent with kids, etc, etc.. Hopefully, you will find the best dual showerhead that will meet your demands, and shower with a quality dual head that will also bring you numerous settings and functions. Moreover, if you want to purchase a dual showerhead, then make sure you read our full article about them.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What type of showerhead should I go for?

Well, it all depends on what you like, and yes, it also depends on your budget. Some showerheads can be expensive, while most of them are affordable by almost any household.

There are various showerheads that can match your type such as: rain showerheads, high-pressure showerheads, handheld showerheads, low-flow showerheads, and dual showerheads. If you’re willing to do some research and read some articles about them, you may find yourself the one that you really want.

Some of them are made to give you a spa-like experience, while some of them will make you think like you’re literally in the rain(those big showerheads that we mentioned earlier).

However, we may be able to help you with some advice.

If you have a relatively small bathroom, it’s best for you to go with a handheld showerhead since it can fit on most common areas and it’s easy to direct and move around.

On the other hand, if you have a large bathroom with lots of space in it, we recommend you go with a rain showerhead. Not only that it gives you an incredible experience, but it will also make your bathroom look luxurious, as it will match with every fixture you have. If you still don’t know what to buy, you can go with one of the recommendations on this article, because we listed only the best shower heads that are worth your money.

What is a good showerhead flow rate?

This is a question where everyone gets confused about. Since 1992, a maximum of 2.5 GPM is federally mandated flow rate for new shower heads. If you didn’t know, GPM means gallons per minute, also known as flow-rate, yeah it’s the same thing. To get back to the question, since you know what’s mandatory now, I guess you can choose your own GPM from 1.5 up to 2.5 GPM.

A standard 2.5 GPM shower head uses 2.5 gallons of water each minute, which makes it 25 gallons for a 10-minute shower. Taking a shower with 2.5 GPM is enjoyable, while it also gives you a great showering experience, maybe its from the warmth, the pressure, it’s up to you whether you like it or not.

A low-flow 1.8 GPM shower head uses 1.8 gallons of water each minute, which makes it 18 gallons for a 10-minute shower. Personally, I’d say 1.8 is a good flow-rate, and I don’t really think you need more, because shower head design can overcome GPM flow rate limits. So, if you have a good showerhead, it won’t really matter, you can twist the unit to however you want the water to go, wide, narrowed, high-pressured, low-pressured, etc, etc..

Does a bigger showerhead use more water?

Well, yes and no. I mean, aesthetically because they are so much bigger than the average showerhead, doesn’t mean they provide a different amount of water, it’s just math. If you think about it, the same amount of water is delivered across a bigger surface with less pressure. It depends on the country you live in, and what GPM applies to you.

The size of the pipes matters as well, because if you change your showerhead, and you still have that same old pipe that delivers a specific amount of water, a bigger showerhead won’t make it use more, but it’s just the way you play with your showerheads settings. For example, as we said, the most advanced showerheads have capabilities to make the water high-pressurized, to make it low-flow and give you a rainy feeling etc, etc..

This is a really complex matter which needs to be answered by a professional plumber who knows your house more, and knows what GPM rules are applied to your country.

Is an LED showerhead worth the money?

Do you have money to throw around? Are you an environmentally conscious person, or just someone who really appreciates the latest and the most innovative bathroom technology, then you should probably go for it.

LED showers are multi-functional, which offer ambient lighting and even allowing you to visually monitor the temperature of the water-based on the shade of the light. However, only because they seem so full with features and innovation, it doesn’t mean that they’re not eco-friendly. In fact, they are installed the same way a regular shower head would be.

I mean, personally, I’d say LED showerheads are worth the money because this type of unit will last you forever, and nonetheless, it will always give you comfort, joy and amazing shower experience. Despite their price, if you want to make your home more luxurious than it already is, save some money, or if you already have the money, go for it because it’s really something you will never regret.
