Our planet is not in the best shape, and every way we can we have to help it. You can simply start helping the planet by educating yourself as to how the planet is being polluted and how you can make a difference. Also, it is nice to raise awareness at least for your family and loved ones, and educate them to save and conserve the planet.
One of the most surefire and simple ways you can help save the planet is by conserving water. This includes a lot of things but most importantly this means that you have to change your shower habits to not waste water. Showering is one of the places you waste most water because most of us shower every day and if you take a whole household into consideration this translates in a lot of water waste for no reason. That is where the family education part comes into play, because every single individual is crucial in this cause, and if we want to leave our children a habitable planet it is a must.
1. Cut your shower times
This is the most obvious thing you can do, and it is also the most effective way you can start conserving water. The average American spends about 8 minutes daily in the shower, this may vary but generally, that is the number that came from the surveys. Even cutting just a minute from our showers, collectively this number grows to a healthy 165 billion gallons of water yearly, which is amazing to think how much one minute can change for the planet, let alone two. You can simply do this by setting a simple alarm in your phone to alert you when you reach the 7-minute mark, and if you practice daily shower routines that 7 minutes is more than enough to clean yourself properly.
2. Change your showerhead
This is also one of the most effective ways to start conserving a significant amount of water while showering. Yes, it is that significant. Let’s look at it this way, a normal showerhead will use about 5 to 8 gallons of water minute, but in comparison to that an efficient showerhead, or a low-flow showerhead will use from 1.6 to 2.5 gallons of water per minute which translates to a lot in the long run. And you don’t have to worry about the performance, as they are just as good at cleaning as normal showerheads, and you can find them just by searching the best low flow showerheads in your search engine.
3. Don’t leave the water running
This is also a crucial element as most of us don’t like regulating the temperature after every lathering, and I know that it is annoying. However, a slight annoyance for you, that you will probably get used to it and will not change anything in your life can cost a lot for the planet.
